Therapeutic pain management

Chronic pain can impact significantly upon physical, emotional and social wellbeing.  It may arise from tissue damage or inflammation or neurological issues (like MS, Stroke) or have no identified cause. Using a broad scope of practice, Physiotherapist can safely and cost-effectively support and guide people with long term pain towards the best possible quality of life.

Neuropathic pain- is a complex, long term pain that is caused by problems with nerves or spinal cord/brain. With neuropathic pain, the nerve fibers themselves can be damaged, injured or dysfunction. Nerve dysfunction results in pain messages being wrongly sent from the nerves to the brain. Neuropathic pain is characterised by a burning, stabbing or shooting pain, increased sensitivity, tingling or pins and needles in the affected area.
