Falls Prevention and Rehabilitation

As we become older, there is a tendency to lose muscle strength, mobility and balance. Some conditions like osteoporosis can also cause problems within the spine and certain joints. Physiotherapists at Aspire Rehab are trained in providing specialised and tailored treatment which will help to improve your strength, mobility and balance. As a result, you will be less at risk of falling.
Following a fracture or period of stay at hospital, our therapists can visit you at your place, and help you get going again as soon as possible
We can assess and treat you at your own environment which may be your home, care home or day centre. Our Therapists can also assess your home environment to make any difficult daily activities easier.

The rehabilitation can help people with:

    Preventing complications, progressing mobility and function after Fractures or dislocations.
  • Post orthopaedic, neurological or general surgeries.

FALLS PREVENTION

Our Therapists are trained in specialist falls prevention and management course, qualified as Postural Stability Instructors http://www.laterlifetraining.co.uk) qualified to organise individual and group programmes for falls prevention, based on FaME and Otago exercises.

The falls prevention programme includes:

  • Exercise programme (Otago, FaME based)
  • Environment assessment and modification
  • Equipment (aids and alarms – Telecare)
  • Mobility and transfer practise
  • Patient and carer education

How can our Occupational therapist help?

Our Occupational Therapists work with individuals who suffer from physical, developmental, mental and/or emotional conditions which prevent them from fully caring for themselves, accessing their homes and being part of the community around them. Occupational Therapists help improve basic motor functions, activities of daily living, self-care skills and reasoning abilities and assist to compensate for permanent loss of function.
