Identification of spasticity:

  • Abnormal posture (Bent elbow and arm pressed against the chest , Tight fist , Pointed foot , Curled toes, crossing of leg, leg in bent position or stiff straight leg)
  • Muscle Tightness. Catch felt when moving part of the body.
  • Muscle spasm, cramps
  • Certain triggers increasing the muscle tightness- trigger can be posture or
    movement, heat or cold, exercise, walking, infections, sneezing.
  • Pain, tightness and spasm can be present at same time, one triggering the other.
